I’m so excited – Pointer Sisters
Eind jaren ’60 van de vorige eeuw werd de groep The Pointer Sisters (Ruth, Anita en June Pointer) opgericht in Oakland, Californië. Ze werden ontdekt toen ze achtergrondzangeressen waren voor Elvin Bishop in een Californische nachtclub en kregen een platencontract.
Er waren oorspronkelijk 4 zusjes in de groep, maar Bonnie Pointer verliet de groep in 1978 voor een solocarrière.
June Pointer stierf in 2006 aan kanker; haar plaats werd ingenomen door Ruths dochter Issa.
“I’m so excited” was voor het eerst een hit in 1982. In dat jaar werd het gebruikt in de film “Summer Lovers”. In 1984 werd het opnieuw uitgebracht met een iets andere mix en kwam nog hoger in de hitlijsten en bleef daar sinds die tijd. In 1993 werd het nummer gebruikt in de film “Hot Shots Part Deux”.
